Claiming that Madhya Pradesh is lagging behind states like Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan in textile, the MP Textile Mills Association has sought an immediate package of Rs 10,500 crore from the budget allocated for textile sector in 12th Five-year plan of the state.
In the pre-budget demands sent to finance minister Raghavji, the association has forwarded figures of spun yarn and spinning capacity of other states and MP from the year 2000 through 2012.

Cotton consumption in Bangladesh will increase by 10-15 per cent in 2013 on the back of higher ready-made garment (RMG) exports, industry insiders said yesterday.
“RMG exports are displaying a distinct upward trend, which will increase demand for cotton,” said Jahangir Alamin, president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA).

Cotton Corporation of India may procure about 60 lakh bales in the current marketing year ending September as domestic prices are lower than the minimum support price in some parts of the country.
In the first three months of the 2012-13 marketing year, CCI, the government's nodal agency for procuring cotton, has already procured over 13 lakh bales (of 170 kg each) and plans to buy another 19 lakh bales in January.

Peru's export and tourism promotion board (PromPeru) will attend the largest international trade fair for home and contract textiles known as Heimtextil Fair 2013 which will be held on 9-12 January, in the city of Frankfurt, Germany.
